Holiday Pop-Up Tree

This is the card front for a most surprise yet to be revealed. The card front is rather simple. The detail is in the inside. Finished card size is 6"x6".

Carefully open the card revealing...........................

The opened card inside:

The tree as the center piece of the card:

The view from the top:

A closer view of the tree at different angles:

The die cut message "Peace &" at the top right hand corner - adhere using 2 way glue pen.
The die cut message at the bottom right corner: Cheer. Adhere using 2 way glue pen

How to make this project:
Pieces used for the card front:
(1) 6" x 12" Real Red CS, score along the 12" side @ 6", fold in half.
(1) 5-3/4" x 3" Whisper White CS
(1) 5-1/2" x 2-3/4" Flocked DSP from Christmas Cocoa DSP
(1) Big Shot Die Cut Swirl
(1) Message using Old Olive ink, Wide Oval punch. Add dimensionals to pop up
(1) Old Olive 5/8 Grosgrain Ribbon 7-1/2" + (1) 5-1/2" for the front knot
For the Front, assemble the pieces as shown, pop up with dimensionals before placing on to the Real Red CS front.

Card Inside:
(1) Assembled Tree - follow instruction from the SU Big Shot die
(1) Scallop Square Big Shot Christmas Cocoa DSP, score in Half
(2) 5-3/4" x 3" Christmas Cocoa DSP, use scallop boarder Punch on one edge
(2) 5-3/4" x 3/4" Christmas Cocoa DSP (flocked): place on top of the printed DSP
(2) 5-3/4" x 1/2" Whisper White DSP: note: only 1/8" will be exposed

Position the tree 1-1/2" down the center fold line of the scallop Square (OR that means 2-1/2" down from the top of the card at center) - see the pink arrow.

This is another view - note: the scallop square is not glued down yet so it is shown a little crooked in the photo.

Be sure to position the collapsed tree where it will clear the top of the card when closed: see the large pink arrow. Now you can also position the Scallop Square on the center fold line after sticky tape is applied: see the small pink arrows.
A word about decorating the tree:
I hadn't realized how many ornaments this tree would take. I guess it depends on how you wish to decorate it. The larger ornament from the SU Exclusive Tree Decorations Die seemed a bit overbearing so it was not used. It was sooooo much easier to use a 1/4" hand held punch for the circle ornaments. Running the "bulb" style ornaments through the Big Shot (even 2-3 layers of CS at one time) was very tedious: SU, if you are reading this............a punch would have been much easier!!!
Supplies:
  • Stamps: Christmas Punch (Level 2 Hostess)
  • CS: Real Red, Whisper White, Old Olive, Christmas Cocoa DSP
  • Ink: Old Olive
  • Accys: SU Exclusive Big Shot O Christmas Tree Die, SU Exclusive Tree Decorations Die, SU Exclusive Big Shot Bigz Clear Scallop Square Die, SU Exclusive Big Shot Join in the Cheer Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die, Big Shot Swirly Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die, Scallop Edge Punch, Scallop 5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Wide Oval Punch, Dimensionals, 2 Way Glue Pen, Sticky Tape, 1/4" Circle Hand held Punch (retired)

Thank you for stopping by today........stay tuned tomorrow for a BIG surprise!!! HUGS........

Uh-OH

OMG - can you believe it?
I got a call today from my DH's brother in Washington DC. So what was the call about? HE HAS MY RED CASE AND CAMERA!!! I saw it on SKYPE.

So what happen? The neighbor rang his doorbell this morning to see if it was his. They found it in the pile of fallen leaves by their fence. It must have fallen out of my pocket when I got out of the car.

Now how lucky can I be? What great neighbors to have!!! But I do love my new camera and will keep it. This one will go to my DH who occasionally uses the "clunker" - you know the one I mean.
Goodness!!!! It really is Thanksgiving!!!

Thanksgiving Aftermath

Wow - I am really happy with my photos (using my new RED camera!) The Thanksgiving decor is up....it's minimal compared to Xmas. I got a great surprise from my friend Gail. She made this cute little Turkey Sweet Treat with a pull up back door.....looks funny,.....because I ate all the Chocolate Sunflower Seeds before I took this photo. She also made a Harvest Blessing Mix in a box. I am very lucky to receive one of these from her:

Here's the Harvest Blessing Mix: a mixture of goodies which are candy corn, pretzels, nuts, etc.

I have these special gifts sitting where all the plates and utensils are for the massive buffet. Am expecting about 25 - not too many compared to Xmas where I have had up to 65!!!

Here's my 10' table decor: sprays of Fall leaves, a bear sitting on a pumpkin all sitting on a Natural colored tablecloth

Close-up of the center piece:

Along the buffet wall are scarecrows - they don't work because people still eat what is on the buffet.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving getting together with family and friends. And, a great day off, too. Thank you for visiting today. Big hug to all.......................!!!

Thanks - Giving

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL. HUGS THE ONE YOU LOVE.

Do you just LOVE the inside of this card!!!! (I forgot to take a photo of the outside) Wow - I am very lucky to have seen this. This is the card style from my post on 9/28/09 Xmas Message and 10/19/09 Surprise Snowman . For direction on "how to", refer to those previous postings.

Love the bright color combination. This was made by Maya who gave it to Mary.............lots of "thanks". This card style worked perfect for this message. Maya cleverly used a combination of "in color" polka dot ribbon and punches to create this gem............oooh..........ahhh.......did'nt she do a great job!!!! You go girl!!!

Let me see if I can figure out the supplies used:

  • Stamps: Circle Circus, Define Your Life, Thank You Kindly, Elegant Thank You, Enjoy Every Moment, Eastern Blooms
  • CS: Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, Very Vanilla, Dusty Durango, Thoroughly Modern DSP
  • Ink: Bermuda Bay, Brown Suede, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry
  • Accys: Heart to Heart Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1-1/2" Circle Punch, Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon: Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Brown Suede

I've probably missed something but you get the idea!!!! Hugs...........!!!!

A Box for the Flippin Scrapbook

Yesterday's post was for the Fliippin Scrapbook. After thinking about this over night.............this scrapbook needs a box.........so this is what I thought would work. And, it co-ordinates with the inside contents!!! How did that happen?

Close up of the message on top of the "O"

Remove the lid, there's stamped tissue - now can this be more personable?

This is what is revealed!

Randomly stamp cut tissue using Real Red, Old Olive, and Chocolate Chip ink. I cut tissue 9" x 14" and folded it in half after ink is dry.

To make the box:
(1) 6-1/2" x 11" Chocolate Chip CS, Score 1" around all four edges
(1) 6-1/2" x 11" Real Red CS, Score 1" around all four edges
(1) 4-1/4" x 8-3/4" Very Vanilla CS - for the top of box
(1) 4" x 8-1/2" Merry Moments DSP
Cut to assemble box as shown below:

Apply sticky tape to the top and bottom boxes

To make the Scallop Message for the box top, use the Stampin' Write Pens as shown - look so great instead of using one color ink! Yes? Apply dimensionals to the back of this message. Position on top of the "O" in J-O-Y.

Position the "J-O-Y" letters (cut from using the Big Shot Serif Essentials Die), then adhere to top using snail adhesive. Before placing the Very Vanilla and Merry Moments DSP, be sure to add dimensionals to back along with Gold elastic cord. The last step: complete top and place the scrapbook inside...............nice?

Box Supplies:
  • Stamps: Christmas Punch, Tree Trimmings
  • CS: Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Merry Moments DSP
  • Ink: Real Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
  • Accys: Big Shot Serif Essentials Alphabet Die, Scallop Oval Punch, Stampin' Write Pens Real Red, Chocolate Chip, and Old Olive, Dimensionals, Gold Elastic Cord, Sticky Tape

Thank you for stopping by today.................Hugs!!!!

It's Here and it's RED

It finally got here! I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love!! It's everything I expected!!! It's so beautiful...............sigh.....................size of my new love: 3-3/8" x 2" x 1/2"!!! Woo-hoo!!! This is half the size and weight of what I was using......hmmmp.............this photo was taken with the clunker camera.

This photo was taken with the Red Canon - much more clear and sharp! Camera size is 4" x 2-1/2" x 2" - yuck!!! AND, it is awkward to handle (I have small hands - and no, they aren't RED) and heavy!!!! Good-bye....................back in the closet it goes!!!

I am so happy today.........................hope everyone is also feelin the great vibes!!!! Yipppeeeee!!!!

A Flippin Scrapbook

I love how this project turned out - it is quite easy (really) .......This is my version of the Split Coast Challenge "3D129" Kirsten Browns Layered Staggered Flippin Scrapbook Album. A couple versions of this album style and instructions are also on Split Coast Forum site. Finished project size: 4-1/4" x 9".

Top view:

Here's how to make this project:
(1) 4-1/4" x 11" CS, score @ 2"along the 11" side - I used Real Red CS
(1) 4-1/4" x 11" CS, score @ 3" along the 11" side - I used Merry Moments DSP
(1) 4-1/4" x 11" CS. score @ 4" along the 11" side - I used Chocolate Chip CS
(1) 4-1/4" x 11" CS, score @ 4" along the 11" side - I used Merry Moments DSP

Use the 3/16" corner rounder for all coreners of the (4) pages. Stack each page on top of each other, then use Crop-o-dile to punch hole 1/2" from the bottom edge. Thread elastic cord and add a jingle bell at the end.

Assembled scrapbook should look like this:

Here are the stamps and punches that will be used for the scrapbook tab pages:

After stamping each image on Very Vanilla CS, use the 1/16" Hand held punch and thread elastic cord for these tabs. Apply sticky tape to one side of the tabs, then add to scrapbook page.

Use piercer to make hole for the rhonestone brad. Attach to first scrapbook layer using Mini Glue Dots.

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Tree Trimmings, Spotlight on Christmas, Christmas Punch (Level 2 Hostess)
  • CS: Real Red, Docolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Merry Moments DSP

Snowflake Ornament

OK - sorry for the poor photo quality.....grrr........here are a group of snowflake ornaments. I made these for my local Yahoo Group Gathering. This is our last meeting for the year so I wanted to celebrate the holidays properly with them. Finished ornament size is: 3-3/4" x 4-1/4".

Here's a MUCH better shot of the individual snowflake - I LOVE snowflakes!!! Hmmmm....maybe I should make red ones.......that would a different idea..............ha ha.

Back side of the snowflake:

Here's my attempt at taking a really close-up photo of the sweet treat cup - it didn't turn out clear enough.

So here's how this project was made:
(2) Big Shot Snowflake #2 - paper used is NOT the Whisper White CS - I used the light chipboard that comes with the DSP paper. It's the perfect weight and is slick white on one side and dull white on the other side. I used the slick white for the outside of the snowflake.

(2) stamped messages, punched out using the 1-3/4" Circle Punch
(2) Sweet Treat cups
(1) 9" long Silver elastic cord

Adhere the message to the snowflake shown below using snail adhesive. I applied snail only to the center of the snowflake. That was sufficient. Remove the white tape from one of the Sweet Treat Cups. Tip: make sure your message is positioned pointing toward one of the snowflake points (see the pink arrows). This will be the top/bottom.

Here's a better view of the arrows:

Position the Sweet Treat Cup on top as shown below:

Repeat the same steps for the 2nd (front) snowflake and again making sure the top and bottom are at one of the snowflake points as shown by the pink arrows below:

BEFORE placing the Sweet Treat cup on top, spoon some chunky glitter into cup:

Unlike the back snowflake, for the front snowflake flip the snowflake on top of the sweet treat cup. Be care to position the 1-3/4" Circle to ensure the glitter will not have a crack to fall out. Push down to ensure "sealing the circle". Apply Tombow adhesive to each of the snowflake areas - remember: a little goes a long way. You don't want this stuff ooozing out - yucky and sticky!

This is what your snowflake should look like after the Tombow is applied:

Finally, position the back to the front BUT make sure the top of the front snowflake is matching the top of the back. Before the adhesive dries, you can position each snowflake so it looks line one snowflake. Thread silver cord and your project is complete. Enjoy.......it's really simple to make and finally those back DSP sheets can be recycled.
Supplies:
  • Stamps: Sweet Season, Holiday Best ( Level 1 Hostess)
  • CS: Whisper White
  • Ink none
  • Accys: Stampin Write pens: Real Red, Old Olive, Black, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, Tombow Adhesive, Big Shot Snowflake #2 Die, Sweet Treat Cups, Silver Elastic Cord (Holiday Mini), Stampin' Chunky Crystal Ice Glitter

Thank you for stopping by today to visit - there's time to make a whole bunch of these!!! Really!!! HUGS!!!!
